Mager English: Amhara perspective on Negotiations to End war in Ethiopia

On this Mager English Program (Monday, August 22, 2022) Special guests Tewodrose Tirfe, Chairman of Amhara Association of America (AAA) and Robel Alemu, Director of Advocacy at AAA join host Biniam Ambachew to discuss negotiations between Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s administration and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) amidst war in northern Ethiopia (Amhara, Afar and Tigray Regions). The guests analyze and explore the consequences and ramifications of the negotiations with a focus on understanding how it impacts Amharas as a whole. They also explore the role of Amhara civil society, opposition political parties, and other organizations in the negotiation process as well as seeking transitional justice and accountability for Amhara Genocide and other human rights abuses perpetrated by TPLF, Oromo Liberation Army (OLA), and the ruling party in the context of the war and outside of it.
